Mechanical Issues
« on: July 05, 2021, 05:09:33 AM »
After a ride we took yesterday I was checking over our bikes and found the rear wheel moving a small bit side to side on one of them.  The Allen bolts that hold the wheel in place were very loose on one side and slightly loose on the other.     A bit startling.
Torqued them down and we rode today and no problems.   I recommend that you check all bolts with some regularity.     I didn’t have any issues with the other bike and feel that these may not have been torqued when the bike was built up at the factory.

Good to know. After reading your post I carefully checked over mine. No sign of any issues. I think you’re right that the one bike wasn’t tight from the factory.

That's surprising but good to know. At least when I test rode the Serial 1 ebikes they were all marked with yellow paint so you could tell if any of them loosened up. A nod to their bike manufacturing I guess. Did yours come with that?

No my bike doesn’t have any markings like you referred to.   I imagine they did that since there test fleet would be getting a lot of use.    These bolts didn’t appear to have any thread locker on them either.    If they come loose again I’ll be applying some.

Re: Mechanical Issues - Disc Brakes
« Reply #4 on: July 18, 2021, 05:40:59 AM »
Had my front disc brake start rubbing during a ride and it seemed to get louder the longer we rode.  I checked the disc for warpage when we got home and it had just the slightest warp barely touching the pads.  I pulled the wheel and checked the disc bolts and they were not as tight as I think they should have been (somewhere between 6 and 8nm) I torqued then to 7nm totally eliminated the noise and rubbing.

Front wheel noise
« Reply #5 on: April 28, 2023, 06:40:13 PM »
My 2021 rush/cty speed has a ?ticking? noise coming from the front wheel.  It is easy to hear when riding, impossible when manually spinning the wheel and the tick interval is related to the wheel rotation speed.  There was a dragging of the front disc which I almost completely eliminated with adjustment but the annoying ticking persisted.  Any ideas?

Sounds like a warped disc to me.   Even the slightest warp will cause that ticking while riding.  I also had a warped disc but was able to eliminate the warp with some careful bending of the disc.   I didn?t have a tool for that but used a very large crescent wrench which worked well enough.   It might even go away on its own once the brake pad has worn down enough.
