Suspended Seatpost

Looking at this type mod especially for the old lady who would appreciate some extra cush even though we will be mostly on paved bike paths there are many spots with roots running under creating a washboard effect.   I know we could run lower tire pressures and get some relief, but nothing wrong with extra cushioning.

A suspension seatpost makes a huge difference. I've tested out the SR Suntour NCX as well as the Kinekt 2.1. Both are great options though the SR Suntour is more affordable. My guess would be once you try it out, you'll want one for yourself. It helps even on the small bumps. With a lack of front suspension on the Serial 1 CTY bikes I expect many people to opt for a suspension seatpost.

I was looking at the PNW Coast Suspension Dropper Post.   It has 40mm suspension as well as drops 120mm.  I like that the seat goes down inline with the post.   I think it would be more natural feeling vs down and back on most of the other posts out there.   I’m going to try it on my cross bike as I wouldn’t mind the squish and having the dropper would be nice as I do ride that bike on some single track.   I know that I wouldn’t need a dropper on a step through.

I know many people swear by the Cane Creek Thudbuster, but I had one and didn't think it did much. I did make sure I was using the proper insert for my weight.

I now have a Kinect 2.1. I love that thing - I will never buy another suspension bike. They are pricey, but I ride every day and comfort is important. Selle Anatomica sometimes has them on sale for 25% off, which helps a lot.

I have seen a few reviews saying the Kinect is the best available. Although one review preferred the Thudbuster, and one slightly preferred...dang, I forgot. Something else.

The PNW post is delayed.   I ordered one on Feb. 10 and it is supposed to ship sometime in April.    Since we still have tons of snow here it’s not a biggie for me. It’ll be the end of April before enough snow has melted off to free up all the paved bike trails around town.

I finally settled on the Suntour NCX seatpost.   It works like a charm set and forget.  I highly recommend this as you won?t notice it while riding until you hit a bump or pothole and realize that it doesn?t sting as much.   They are also inexpensive to purchase.
We bought the 27.2 x 400mm size.  Currently on sale at Suntour for $69.87 down from $129.95, as far as I?m concerned this is a great deal for comfort.

Bought the Kinekt 2.1 before my bike even arrived. It was highly recommended and they are made only a few hours from me in northern WA. Extremely expensive, "butt" worth every dollar. Simple adjustments with a key and I purchased a "sock" cover for bad weather and dust.

Whichever brand you go for, a necessity for the RC Speed.
