The floppy little charge port cover
« on: April 02, 2021, 03:35:24 AM »
I love the Serial 1 - design, components, build, quality...

...but boy, does that floppy little rubber charge port cover seem out of place. It's easy to enough to remove; just tug on it. But putting it back seems to be a real pain. Is it just me? Is there a trick to it? I can get it, but I have to futz with it a bit.

I found it tricky at first. It seems to work best when you carefully tuck the tabs in before pushing it in place.

I find it easy to replace IF you do the following:
Gently align the round part of the charge cover with the round charge port first.
Then gently pull back on the top and insert the tab, followed by the upper left tab.
Then pull the bottom tap up and insert it into its tab slot.
The key is getting the round rubber into the round port jack. After that, it's just inserting the tabs into the slots.
Good luck, took me a minute to figure it out.
I'll be ordering a couple of rubber charge port covers for the future if Serial 1 ever gets an online parts department.
