There is currently another discount from Serial 1. Using coupon code "4wheels" will get you $300 off when you purchase two Serial 1 electric bikes.

Hi Frank! Welcome to the forum. Curious what ebike you currently have. It is surprising that you are burning through a chain every year.

Congrats on the Speed - I hope you enjoy it!

I am pretty sure it is the exact same case, just a different battery configuration.

There are so many good pedals out there.   Any would be a good upgrade over those Wellgos.   I have Spank Oozy trail pedals on my Pugsley, Boomslangs on my stumpy and Chesters on my cross bike.   Love em all.

Those are nice-looking pedals. Hadn't heard of Oozy or Boomslangs before.

General Chat / How waterproof are Serial 1 electric bikes?
« on: February 18, 2021, 02:07:54 AM »
One thing I forgot to ask about when I did my Serial 1 review was how waterproof are the Serial 1 electric bikes. I reached out to Serial 1 and here was their response: "All of the components are designed and tested to withstand a harsh riding environment including torrential downpours of rain."

So it sounds like the Serial 1 bikes should stand up pretty well to rain.  8)

Today I got a notification on my phone of a promotion with PayPal. $150 off my next purchase at Serial 1 bike company. Not sure if this is targeted but thought I'd share. See attached screenshot (you need to have an account to view it)

I've heard good things about those pedals and I'd definitely upgrade from the Wellgos that come on it. I also really like Hafny pedals but unfortunately, they are not widely available yet.

Serial 1 Modifications / Re: Suspended Seatpost
« on: February 14, 2021, 02:49:32 AM »
I was looking at the PNW Coast Suspension Dropper Post.   It has 40mm suspension as well as drops 120mm.  I like that the seat goes down inline with the post.   I think it would be more natural feeling vs down and back on most of the other posts out there.   I’m going to try it on my cross bike as I wouldn’t mind the squish and having the dropper would be nice as I do ride that bike on some single track.   I know that I wouldn’t need a dropper on a step through.

Thanks for sharing. I was not aware of the PNW Coast suspension seatpost. Sounds like a product I should try reviewing.

A suspension seatpost makes a huge difference. I've tested out the SR Suntour NCX as well as the Kinekt 2.1. Both are great options though the SR Suntour is more affordable. My guess would be once you try it out, you'll want one for yourself. It helps even on the small bumps. With a lack of front suspension on the Serial 1 CTY bikes I expect many people to opt for a suspension seatpost.

Serial 1 Modifications / Re: Studded Tires
« on: February 06, 2021, 02:01:58 AM »
Nice! We bought studded tires for our 2018 RadWagon last year and it really helped on hard-packed snow and ice. What I like about the Serial 1 ebikes is you don't have to worry as much about salt - at least as it related to the derailleur and chain.

Hi Ryan,
I’m Joe and live in Anchorage, Alaska.   I ride cross bikes, mountain bikes and of course this time of the year a fat bike.  I retired a couple years ago and wanted some assistance as age does funny things to the body plus the old lady could also use help when riding with me.   I did ride an electric Schwinn some years back when an older guy rode past me like I was standing still.    It piqued my interest way back then.   I have been studying e-bikes for the past year.   These are well spec’d for the money.   Love the drive belt,  cvt transmission.  I won’t miss the adjusting derailleur’s or oiling chains a bit.   I ordered up 2 of the step-thrus.   Can’t wait to get them and start riding.

PS liked your review of these bikes.  Keep up the good work.  👍

Welcome Joe! Sounds awesome - you will love them. I too think they are a good value for the price. Keep us updated on when they are slated to ship and of course pictures when they arrive. I imagine that there are some fantastic places to bike around Anchorage though I have never been. Hoping that I might be able to get a Serial 1 ebike as well. I want to do videos on customizing the CVT transmission, highlight the app they are building, and of course, accessories. Thanks for the kind words.

MOSH/CTY / Serial 1 MOSH/CTY Gear Ratio
« on: January 30, 2021, 04:19:24 PM »
Someone asked me about the gear ratio on the MOSH/CTY. I couldn't find it myself but according to a comment the MOSH/CTY has a 50T front and 22T rear. Hope this helps anyone looking for the gear ratio.
